Commissioned Short Breaks
These are short breaks that Achieving for Children (AfC) have arranged directly with providers. Because they have been commissioned by AfC using Aiming High funding these activities are free of charge or you may be asked to pay a small contribution.
This is the list of commissioned Short Breaks:
This is funding that families can apply for if their child or young person wants to do an activity of their own choice. This might be an out of school activity such as an after school, weekend or holiday club or a leisure activity such as swimming lessons, dance, football etc. Activities can be either a *mainstream or *specialist activity. The funding can also be used towards annual memberships e.g. Merlin Pass (for the child with disabilities – carers pass is free).
*mainstream - an activity that all children could attend.
*specialist - an activity that only children with disabilities can attend.
Additional Support Funding
Aiming High Additional Support funding pays for a designated staff member to work with a child or young person who requires additional support whilst taking part in a mainstream activity. The activity provider can apply for the additional support funding, to enable an increase in their staff ratio.
