GEM Holiday Club for young people between the ages of 8 to 18 years old with Moderate Learning Disabilities
A holiday programme for young people between the ages of 8 to 18 years old with Moderate Learning Disabilities who live in the borough of Richmond and Kingston. Full day sessions will combine accessible and fun activities which support young people to try new things, express themselves while developing independent life skills, supported by skilled and experienced support workers.
These sessions will run two days 10am - 4pm per week of the school holidays from February Half Term 2017 up to and including February Half Term 2018 as follows:
- October Half Term 2017: 26th & 27th October.
- December 2017: 27th, 28th & 29th December.
- February Half Term 2018: 15th & 16th February.
These sessions are run by the YMCA and will be based at YMCA White House, 45 The Avenue, Hampton, TW12 3RN.
Places are free but there are have limited spaces for this project which will be allocated on a firstcome-first-served basis. If there is a high demand, YMCA will look to offer you one of the available days each week the programme is available.
Please complete the attached registration form and support the young person to complete the second form which will help inform the youth workers who will be supporting your child. On receipt of the form, YMCA will call you to discuss your requirements and confirm booking.

After-school clubs and specialist holiday groups
After-school and during the main school holidays, the Home and Community Support Service runs these services in Kingston. In Richmond, the same services are run by Crofters.
Kingston groups - Ofsted registered
The Moor Lane after school and holiday groups are for children and young people with disabilities aged between 8 and 18 years who are eligible for a service from the ISCD Social Care Team in Kingston. The groups run from the Moor Lane Centre in Chessington.
The after-school clubs run three days a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) and the holiday activities run during the main school holidays. Sessions offer activities at the Moor Lane Centre and in the community.
Children and young people can attend the after-school and/or the holiday groups after an assessment of the child by a social worker from the ISCD Social Care Team. The requests are discussed at the Short Breaks Funding Panel and the family is informed of the decision.
Richmond groups - Ofsted registered
Crofters is a club for children and young people with disabilities aged between 4 and 18 years who are eligible for a service from the ISCD Social Care Team in Richmond. The groups run from the Windham Croft Centre in Kew.
The service provides a variety of activities which are based in two sites: the Windham Croft Centre in Kew and the Barn Centre in Whitton. The sessions are held after school, at weekends and during the school holidays.
Assessed need sessions at Crofters
Children and young people can attend assessed need sessions after an assessment of the child by a social worker from the ISCD Social Care Team. The requests for Crofters sessions are discussed at the Short Breaks Funding Panel and the family is informed of the decision.
After school session are held Monday – Wednesday. There are three weekend sessions each month and each session provides opportunities for children and young people of varied ages. There are also holiday activities during the main school holidays including half term. Please see below for more detailed information.

Monday after school club is for young people aged 13 up to their 18th birthday
Time: 3.30pm - 6.30pm
Tuesday after school club - The Barn
Tuesday after school club is for children aged 4-8 years
Time: 3.30pm - 6.00pm
Wednesday after school club - Croft Centre
Wednesday after school club is for young people aged 8-13 years
Time: 3.30pm - 6.00pm
Weekend Clubs - Saturdays only
Three weekends are held at the Croft Centre.
One weekend a month is held at The Barn.
Time 10am - 4pm
Half term and school holidays
Monday - Thursday is for the age range 9-18 years – split into groups
Friday is age range 4 – 9 years
Time: 10am - 4pm
Specialist holiday club for working parents and carers (Kingston only)
The Kingston Holiday Club is a specialist holiday club for children and young people with disabilities. The play scheme is designed for those parents or carers that work full and part time and need childcare during the holidays.
The children and young people that attend this play scheme are aged between 5 and 18 years. The play scheme caters for children and young people for whom mainstream play schemes are not suitable due to their level of need.
During the day the children and young people have the opportunity to experience a range of trips and outings, for example boat trips up the Thames, train rides, swimming and companion cycling.
The Kingston Holiday Club runs from the Moor Lane Centre, Moor Lane, Chessington, Surrey, KT9 2AA. The play scheme is a full day care scheme; children attend from 8:30am to 5.45pm. The club is open every school holiday, except Christmas. The cost of the play scheme is £25.00 a day for each child.
Referrals are only accepted via the ISCD Social Care Team or the Family Support Team and application to the Short Break Funding Panel.
