Children and young people may be able to receive overnight short breaks if they are aged between 0 to 18 years, living in the Kingston and Richmond boroughs, have a permanent and substantial, severe or profound disability, meet the eligibility criteria for the Children with Disabilities Social Care Team and have been assessed as needing an overnight short break.
In order to establish whether a child or young person has an assessed need for overnight short breaks, a social worker or family support worker will carry out an assessment in the child’s home which is based on the individual child’s needs.
If a child or young person is eligible for overnight short breaks and is assessed as needing them, there are several settings Achieving for Children generally use:
- Warren Park, based on Kingston Hill in Kingston, Surrey.
- Croft Cottage, based on Windham Road in Kew, Surrey.
- High Ashurst, based in Dorking, Surrey.
Further information about overnight short breaks can be provided from your child / young person’s social worker or family support worker.
