Across Kingston and Richmond there are 18 maintained secondary schools and five special schools with a post-16 offer (marked with*). These are listed below with links to the the school website or further information about the school. Schools are legally obliged to publish their own SEND Information Report (sometimes called their Local Offer) on the school website giving clear and up to date information about the support they offer and policies for learners with SEND. This information should be clearly signposted from the home page of the school website. If you are unable to find the information on an individual school website then you should contact them directly to request the information and feedback your experience.
Developing local Post 16 provision
Xavier Centre is a new specialist resourced provision for students with moderate learning difficulties (MLD). Students will be able to study a range of Entry Level qualifications up to Level 1 in English, maths and ICT as well as a course in life skills. In addition, students will have the opportunity to develop your skills across a range of practical subject areas. Links between the provision and the mainstream sixth form are fostered to ensure that pupils feel part of the wider school community at Richard Challoner School. Students will be expected to enrol for two consecutive, academic years (Year 12 and Year 13) and have the chance to develop links with other local colleges in the second year.
Admission is open to students who:
- are the subject of an education, health and care plan
- have a primary need which is considered to be a moderate learning difficulty or similar needs
- are currently in Year 11 and seeking a placement for next academic year
