Pupils who have a Statement of Special Educational Needs, or an Education, Health and Care Plan, will have an Annual Review meeting which the school will organise.  Schools will invite parents and professionals to the Annual Review meeting.

For children moving to secondary school, the annual review meeting is usually held in the summer term of Year 5.  Some parents already have a preferred secondary school because of a family link, or perhaps a local church.

Do not worry if you haven’t decided before the annual review meeting, as the SEN team will write to you during the summer your child moves from Year 5 to Year 6.

We will aim to confirm your child's secondary school and give you a new proposed Statement or EHC Plan by 15 February when your child is in Year 6.

For pupils who do not have a Statement of Special Educational Needs, or an EHC Plan, the normal admissions process is followed.

AfC arrange an annual meeting for SENCOs of primary and secondary schools to meet to discuss the needs of pupils who will be vulnerable on transfer to another school.  Secondary schools will also offer additional transition arrangements to support pupils who may have trouble settling in after the move.
