Description of activity

The Environment Trust's project Jam Yesterday, Jam Tomorrow is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund to explore the history of market gardening. A centrepiece of the project is a Model Market Garden in Marble Hill Park, Twickenham, TW1 2NL.

We have received funding from Hampton Fuel Allotment Charity to offer horticultural training to young people.

The courses are open to young people aged 15 to 25 years old who live in the following areas:

Hampton & Hampton Hill
Hampton Wick, Teddington, Twickenham, and Whitton
The courses are based at our Model Market Garden site at Marble Hill Park TW1 2NL and are ongoing.

THE BENEFITS

The courses are free and young people will gain a nationally recognised qualification in practical horticulture which can lead to employment opportunities.

It involves hands-on practical tasks at the project site; refreshments, cost of travel and all equipment and protective clothing are provided; no experience is necessary.
