Free after school groups in Kingston and Richmond for children with Asperger’s or high functioning autism.

What it offers:
The children and young people who attend a Ribbons Groups develop their social skills, life skills and communication through structured activities and play. The activities are very broad-ranging, from playing games, having short accessible discussions, using social stories, and practising and rehearsing skills in a fun way. Themed, traditional games eg. Duck, Duck Goose. Creative Opportunities eg. making giant cardboard structures and painting them outdoors. Spending time outdoors and in nature (whether that is with our sandpit and trampoline at Geneva Road or out in Richmond Park), discussions about our week – talking about the Rubbish and Flowers in our lives. Learning social skills through stories and play: turn taking, listening, expression, giving responses, understanding feelings.
When it happens:
Ribbons meets 6 times each week across Richmond and Kingston
When?: EVERY WEDNESDAY from 4:00pm to 5:30pm.
Ribbons is running 50 WEEKS PER YEAR (closed for two weeks over Christmas) and is a FREE SERVICE.
We have a high ratio of trained staff on hand who are experienced in working with children on the autistic spectrum.
