Time: 11am – 12pm

Date: Saturday 5th May – 28th July

Where: Hampton Youth Project Sports Hall (45 The Avenue, Hampton TW12 3RN)

Who: Everyone is welcome, aged 8-108, participants, parents, siblings

The programme is designed to break down barriers to for disabled people, get them more active, showcase different sports and reduce the stigma that disabled people are not as capable as non-disabled people. Eventually, we hope to have five or six different disability sports on offer such as wheelchair basketball, para badminton/tennis, frame football, para swimming, para athletics and more.

To kick off the programme, we’ve chosen Boccia, a target game that requires strategy, technique and a very cool head! Boccia is a Paralympic sport that was originally designed for people who have Cerebral Palsy but it is now played by anyone who has a long term condition that significantly affects their movement or limb control. Check out this link for more info and an instructional video: https://www.paralympic.org/boccia

Are you already a bit of a Boccia brain? We’re looking to hire more Disability Sport Coaches now, please get in touch if you are keen to help us develop this programme!
