The following is the text of a letter sent to parent carers who asked to be kept informed of the outcome of the survey carried out recently by Contact.

Dear Parent Carer

I am writing to inform you of the outcome of the survey carried out recently by Contact about the future direction of Parent Carer Forums for Richmond and Kingston.

In total 136 responses were submitted and the outcome is as follows:
Parents were asked if they would like to be kept informed about a new Forum in Richmond and Kingston

  • 91.91% Yes
  • 8.09% No

Parents were asked if they would wish to be part of a new PCF

  • 52.9% Yes
  • 17.55% No
  • 29.41% Maybe

Parents were asked if they wished to be involved in leading a new Forum

  • 3.68% Yes
  • 67.55% No
  • 28.68% Maybe

Parents were asked if they would like to see a joint Forum

34.56% Joint Forum

Parents were asked if they wanted separate forums – one for Richmond and
one for Kingston

  • 11.76% Separate Forums
  • 31.62% Separate but with some joint meetings

Overall 43.38% of people would like to have separate forums in each area
and overall 31.62% said they would like to have some joint meetings

Respondents were asked which of the Boroughs they lived in

  • 59.26% Richmond
  • 40.75% Kingston

The margin between those wishing to have a joint forum and those wishing for separate forums including those who wish to have some joint meeting is 8.82% In addition there were a series of comments, which have to remain confidential pointing out the challenges of a joint form. It seems therefore that the best way forward would be to establish separate forums with some joint protocols would be a sensible way forward in the first instance.

Contact have now arranged next step meetings as follows:

  • Richmond  - 26th February 11am to 1-30pm at Richmond Library Annex Quadrant Road, Richmond TW9 1DH
  • Kingston -  27th February 10am to 12-30pm at The King Charles Centre Hollyfield Road, Surbiton, Surrey KT5 9AL
